Leather finish
oceano products are made with vegetable-tanned oil leather. Because natural hide is used, you may find scars or slight unevenness in color; please accept these as part of the leather's character.
Since the leather has a dye finish that gives it its lovely texture, no protective coating such as lacquer has been applied. Please take care to avoid getting it wet and to prevent color transfer.

Care
The leather used for oceano is an oil leather rich in oils, so oil treatment is generally unnecessary.
Wipe the whole item with a cloth, and use a brush to remove dust from seams and folded areas and other tight spots.
Then check for scratches and scuffs, as well as corners and other places that dry out easily,
and if needed apply a small amount of leather oil (we recommend a plant-based product such as Renapur Leather Treatment).
Please note that applying too much oil can cause color transfer, loss of shape, and a clouded surface.
The best care for oil leather is simply to use it. Enjoy the way it changes moment by moment as you hold it and use it day after day.

If it gets wet
Leather that gets wet may lose its shape or transfer color.
Wipe the surface water off with a cloth, dry it in the shade in a well-ventilated place, and once dry apply a thin layer of oil all over before using it again.
Tannin-tanned leather is pliable, so it will dry in whatever shape it holds while wet.
When drying in the shade, keep the item in as neat a shape as possible. For bags, stuffing them with a rolled-up towel or newspaper to hold their shape works well.
Dye-finished leather is especially prone to releasing color when wet.
If it does get wet, be mindful of color transfer and take care not to rub it against clothing.
